CoGen Engineering Ltd has already realized some
JI projects on the territory of Republic of Bulgaria. The first two
projects - BIOVET and AKB FORES are with a total amount of sold Emission
Reductions of 1 450 000 tons CO2.
The achieved financial income for the projects owners, of those first
(pioneer) two projects from the sale of Emissions Reductions is almost
10 000 000 ˆ.
BIOVET
In 2004 CoGen Engineering Ltd developed
independently a JI project for construction of a co-generation station
at Biovet Peshtera with a nominal power of 17,5 MWe for selling of Emissions
Reductions. This project was successfully accepted in the tender organized
by the Dutch agency - SENTER. The project regardless from the strong
competitors was successful in the tender and a contract between the
Dutch government and Biovet LTD was signed. As a result from the project
it is expected the achieved reductions will be 170 000 tons CO2 in the
form of Assigned Amount Units (AAUs) before 2008 and in the period 2008-2012
the reduction will be 330 000 tons CO2 in the form of Emission Reduction
Units (ERUs). The Co-generation installation should start its operation
at the end of 2005.
AKB FORES
In 2005 CoGen Engineering Ltd together with the Dutch company Global
Carbon developed a project of 7 co-generation instalations with a total
capacity of 30 MWe, which will be installed in entities owned by AKB
Fores. This JI project participated in ERUPT 5 - tender organized by
the Dutch agency - SENTER. The co-generation stations are:
- Polimery JSC, Devnia - 2 õ 5 MWe gas turbines
installations;
- Kostenec HHI JSC - 2 õ 5 MWe gas turbines
installations;
- Toplofikatsia Kazanlak JSC - 2 õ 3 MWe gas
engine installations;
- Toplofikatsia Kazanlak JSC - 1 õ 3 MWe gas
engine installation;
The project is also successful and until the
end of September it is expected a contract between the Dutch government
and AKB Fores to be signed. The realization of this project will lead
to reduction of 150 000 tons of CO2 in the form of Assigned Amount Units
(AAUs) before 2008 and a reduction of about 800 000 tons of CO2 in the
form of Emission Reduction Units (ERUs) in the first commitment period
of Kyoto Protocol. The Co-generation installations should start their
operation in the beginning of 2007.
DHC BOURGAS
During the autumn of 2005 CoGen Engineering Ltd took participation in
JI Project "COGENERATION POWER STATION FOR COMBINED PRODUCTION
OF HEAT AND ELECTRICITY IN DISTRICT HEATING BOURGAS, BULGARIA"
realization. CoGen Engineering Ltd developed main parts of the PDD (Technical
Study, Base Line Study, Project CO2 Emission Reductions Estimation,
and Monitoring Plan Study).
The Project comprises the design, construction,
and operation of new Cogeneration Power Station for combined production
of heat and electricity in DHC Bourgas, including 6 Gas Engines, with
a total power capacity of 17.82 MWe (CHP: combined heat and power).
Three of the Gas Engines will have single output of 3.125 MWe / 3.19
MWth, and the other three - 2.814 MWe / 2.394 MWth.
The current stage of the JI Project is at validation.
The validation company is TUV Suede, Germany. The expected purchaser
of the emission reductions is Netherlands - Senter Organization, or
a private purchaser.
RUNO - KAZANLUK
Now, CoGen Engineering Ltd develops a unique by its organization, JI
Project: "Pool of Small Hydro Power Stations and Wind Energy Parks
Project". This project comprises the design, construction, and
operation of 12 new Small Hydro Power Stations (SHPSs), one Cascade
reconstruction of SHPSs, one small Fuel-switch project, and 7 new small
Wind Energy Parks (WEPs). Thirteen Companies, together with the supplier
of emission reductions, and main applicant Runo-Kazanluk JSC, participate
in this project. The total power involved is 58 MWe, and the expected
emission reductions is 1 021 236 tones CO2 for the period till 2012.
The project received the Letter of Endorsement (LoE) from MOEW, in January,
2006, and the Project Idea Note (PIN) is submitted to Austrian JI/CDM
Program.
The current stage of the project is in front
of PDD development.
UNIVERSUM ENERGY
CoGen Engineering Ltd has begun the development of a new JI Project
"Universum Wind Energy Park Kavarna". This project comprises
the design, construction, and operation of 30 wind energy turbines,
with rated power of 2.3 MWe each. The total Wind Energy Park power is
69 MWe. The wind turbines producer is ENERCON GmbH, Germany. The start
date of the WEP regular operation is foreseen for 01.May.2007. The foreseen
total investment costs of project realization are estimated at about
75 millions of EUR.
The supplier company of the realized emission
reductions will be Universum Energy Ltd, Bulgaria. We are expecting
this project to receive the Letter of Endorsement (LoE) from the MOEW
of Bulgaria, till the end of March, 2006.
